Profile

About Me:
A GA in Academic Reference, but my heart, passion, and academic studies are strongly rooted in public libraries and service to children and young adults.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that in one year I will be able to find a full-time YA specialist position, that is not simply a "generalist" of part-time adult title.

I am also the President of our school's student organization, L.I.S.S.O..

Keep track of what I'm reading and reviewing on Good Reads - http://www.goodreads.com/profile/hipstrlibrarygrl

Favorite thing about librarianship:
The freedom to educate and inform others on new and exciting subjects everyday, and conversely, educate your own self about new topics and subjects everyday.
What is the biggest issue facing libraries today:
- Pressuring government leaders to begin the discussion of formulating national information policy

- Advocating for the rights of our most underrepresented patrons, especially children and young adults/ Recognizing the human and intellectual rights of children and young adults.

- Keeping all issues surrounding intellectual freedom, education, and the right to read transparent and non-partisan

- Decreasing/Eliminating the digital divide and illiteracy rates
If you could only have one of the following what would you choose
A good book
