DRM or Digital Rights Management is becoming a large cultural topic. Recently a code was released on the internet which would unlock HD DVDs. When stories were taken down that linked to the key internet users fought against what they felt was censorship.

Do you think DRM is censorship, and deleting stories that contain the code to unlock it a violation of freedom of press? Even if its the back door to someone's intellectual property such as the HD DVD itself?

In this case, though I know I still have a lot to learn about DRM, I do not think it is a violation of the freedom of press. I think it would be a violation of intellectual property ownership instead.

Is it illegal to publish a book about how to commit a crime? No. It is illegal to act on that information, not to possess it.
